National Drugstore Chain

PROJECT: Digital Transformation
ROLE: UX/UI Lead
DURATION: 3 months
TOOLS: After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe XD, Jira, Microsoft tools
The Problem
The goal was to create a technical POC for associate-facing in-store applications – a HTML interface that, through APIs, would populate with existing data as well as external data.

We were also tasked with creating an Art-of-the-Possible story around the main persona – a store manager.

Was the UX lead and my first task was to create finished designs with style guides for 3 of their applications.

  1. Create a list of assumptions that were socialized among the team and revised if needed.
  2. Take 2 screens from the existing 3 applications that were in scope and updated them so that they look fresh but retaining all functionality so that these screens can be wired back to existing framework.
  3. Envision what the future state could look like for Walgreens associates and create new designs. Created new comps along with a video story that narrated a day in the life of a store manager at a store.
The Resolution
Was the UX lead on this project, consisting of 2 teams - one team for the Technical POC and a team for the Art-of-the-possible deliverables.

Drafted a list of assumptions for the Technical POC in which I defined the scope to be the following; COMPASS application – 3 screens, IMPROVE application – 3 screens, and AS400 application – 2 screens. I ended up designing 6 screens for AS400, 4 screens for  COMPASS, and 2 for IMPROVE.
Delivered design assets and style guides for each application and provided assets as needed to the front-end developer.
Created a Heuristic Evaluation based on the screens the client gave us.

The AOP team consisted of myself, a UX Director - who joined to help with the overall strategy of what the future of a Walgreens associate could look like, a Project Manager - who also helped with strategy and designs, a Delivery Lead who helped us with strategy and overall project management.
For the AOP work stream, we presented the new designs as a video which would tell the story from the main persona’s POV – Christina, a store manager.
The PM and I came up with the initial voice over and scenes for the video, which we would then use as a guide to create the final storyboard.
We visited a local store in downtown Chicago and took photographs to use as backgrounds for our scenarios. We then took photographs of various ‘associates’ (our team) to composite over the backgrounds.
I helped create the composites, which went into a storyboard for the video. We iterated on the narration and hired a professional to read the narration. At the same time, the UX Director and I created and iterated on the actual designs for the new store application. I also edited the music that we added to the video.
Monitor_Standup_ws.jpg

Designed a new application for the store managers that can be accessed on a desktop, iPad and smart phone. With this app, the manager can monitor all employees'  schedules, take inventory and update prices, get performance reports and more.

Created storyboards to present as well as a video with music and voiceover to tell the story.
This image shows a store associate looking up her tasks on a tablet and checking employee schedules on her desktop app.
